Accommodation in student dormitories
DUTH has the ability to provide free accommodation to a certain number of students in each city. This number depends on the available infrastructure or the amount of the relevant funds available.
More specifically, DUTH has student accommodation in Komotini, Xanthi, Kavala and Orestiada. In the remaining cities, Alexandroupolis, Didymoteicho and Drama, where there is no such accommodation available, the University rents rooms in hotels and rental room complexes after a public tender. Finally, in the city of Xanthi there is the EKTENEPOL Hostel, which is intended to meet the needs of PhD candidates of the Departments of the School of Engineering, guests of the Erasmus+ program and guests of summer schools or international collaborations, etc.
The majority owner of the building facilities of all student dormitories is the Democritus University of Thrace. The managing organisation for the student dormitories of the cities of Komotini and Xanthi is the Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation, while for the remaining dormitories it is the Democritus University of Thrace.
Applications for free accommodation are submitted exclusively electronically to the special information system, during the periods announced by the Directorate of Academic Affairs.
More information on the procedure and conditions for housing can be found in the relevant Regulations of Annex 21, which are part of the Internal Regulations of the university (Government Gazette 4751/Β΄/20-08-2024) Annex 21 Student Dormitory Regulations
