The formation of Student Societies at Democritus University of Thrace is an important aspect of student life, enhancing the educational experience and promoting the all-round development of students. Through these groups, students have the opportunity to be active in areas that go beyond their narrow academic interests, such as artistic, cultural, environmental or technological activities, thus meeting the needs of expression, creativity and personal fulfilment.
At the same time, participation in student groups strengthens interdepartmental and interdisciplinary cooperation, offering opportunities for dialogue and co-formation of actions between students from different Departments and Schools. In addition, the extroversion of the groups, through collaborations with social, cultural and scientific bodies, contributes to strengthening the ties of the university community with the wider society and promotes the active participation of students in public affairs.
The University encourages and supports the operation of its student groups, making available, to the extent possible, financial and logistical resources for the implementation of their actions. Applications for funding are submitted at the beginning of each academic year, by October 15, and concern financial support for the following year.
Detailed information regarding the establishment and operation of the student groups of the University is provided in the relevant Regulation, which is part of the Internal Regulation of the Democritus University of Thrace.
